Pearson's Test of English (PTE) is an English language competence test similar to TOEFL. The PTE, like other examinations, is used to assess a non-native speaker's English communication skills and can assist colleges to determine if a student can grasp course material if it is taught fully in English. PTE Academic Online is now only available for study applications, and not all colleges accept it (although the number of recognising institutions is growing each week).

Please note that the Australian, New Zealand, and UK governments do not yet recognise PTE Academic Online for visa reasons. It is likewise not accessible in China at this time.

You must have a valid government-issued ID to take PTE Academic Online; you will be requested to produce this during your online check-in and the necessary equipment:

Briefly, IELTS academic is for students who wish to study abroad and IELTS General is just for immigration purpose. IELTS General will not be accepted by abroad universities for admission. And they differ in their sections of tests.

PTE Academic

  • The PTE academic is a three-hour test.
  • It assesses the candidates’ ability to listen, read, talk, and write.
  • There are 20 questions in total in the PTE academic test, which are divided into three sections.
  • Analytical interpretation, multiple choice questions, or essay prompts are examples of possible inquiries.

PTE General

  • PTE General is not a computer based test.
  • It has two parts – Interview and written part.
  • Test duration will depends on the level of test taken. Minimum of 90 minutes to 3 hours.

Before booking the PTE exam slot, make sure to check the availability of test dates in your nearest test center.

  • Create an account or log in to an existing one on the official PTE Academic website.
  • Fill in your personal information as it appears in your passport.
  • PTE Academic or PTE General are the two types of PTE tests available, so choose the test required.
  • Choose the test centre that is most convenient for you.
  • Choose an available test date at the selected test site.
  • The applicant will be prompted to review the place and date they have chosen. Verify it.
  • Pay for the PTE test and save the receipt as proof of payment.

Experts suggest that it is better to book the PTE test a minimum of 2 months before the university admissions, so that you can have the enough time for 2nd attempt if required.

PTE test costs you 13,700 INR as per the recent updates. If the candidate is booking within 48 hours of test date, they may have to pay the late booking fee for PTE.

PTE Cancellation Fee: If the booked slot cancelled before 14 days of test date, full fee will refund, 50% refund if cancelled 7 days before test day and 0 INR refund if cancelled less than 7 days before refund (Excluding test date)

Yes. You can re-schedule your PTE test within 14 days before the test date. But if you reschedule in less than 14 days before the test date, you need to pay 50% of PTE examination fee.

PTE scores will be valid for 2 years from the date of examination.
